Why did I choose to work in the field of Silicon Photonics?
I started research on the topic of Design and Modeling of
Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier
for WDM and DWDM Fiber Optic
Communication System in 2004 and completed
in 2009. The research on
EDFA requires mostly physics of optical light propagation
( Maxwell Equations applied to cylindrical coordinates for mode
solution), doped material
characteristics (rare earth metal like Er 3+ doped fiber’s
absorptions, spontaneous
and stimulated emission rate
questions, evolution equations of signal, amplified
spontaneous emission and
absorption of pump signals), numerical methods
to solve coupled partial
differential equations (e.g. 4th order Runga-Kutta Methods),
optimization techniques
(Simple Genetic Algorithm, Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms),
and the most important use of coding on C++, Matlab and later on
Java.
After completion of my
doctoral degree, I was exploring to write a project proposal
and in that, I wrote two project proposals: one as an extension of
my Ph.D. work
and a second one on
Behavioral modeling of Optical Devices using
VHDL-AMS. Unfortunately, these two projects could not get
sanctioned for
financial support, and meanwhile, I shifted from ISM Dhanbad to
NEHU, Shillong
on the acceptance of a higher post from Assistant to Associate
Professor in
the Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
Thereafter, I thought to
write a research proposal on some new emerging areas of
research that should be able to utilize the skills, competency, and
strength
of available manpower in the department of ECE as well as not
deviating from
my core area of specialization i.e., Optical Communication and
compatible
with the courses that I
studied during my six years of engineering graduate
training (3 years diploma in ECE and 3 years in B.Tech. in ECE).

Contemporary teacher has to be a Superhuman to perform his/her duties said by Prof. R. K. Shevgonkar , IIT Bombay on 11 Oct 2021
While addressing the online inauguration ceremony of ATAL FDPs, Prof. R. K. Shevgonkar has suggested in his address as a chief guest that today's teacher has to work as a superhuman being to perform his/her duties. There are mainly four domains in which a teacher has to perform in the present era. These are:
1: Personal Development, 2: Instructional domain, 3: Organizational Domain, 4: Professional Development
Prof. Shevgonkar told that in personal development, a teacher has to interact with the teacher on regular basis as a good friend and good mentor so that students can get proper advice, direction, and appropriate guidance without hesitation.
In the instructional domain, a teacher should have good digital literacy and efficient digital capabilities. A teacher should be aware of different modes of teaching and learning environments such as online, normal physical classes, flipped classes, asynchronous and self-learning modes.

Fabricate your Electronics IC free of cost and realize your dreams come true
There is good news that the company efabless.com gives an opportunity to every electronics engineer to fabricate their integrated circuits free of cost.
Ref: https://www.efabless.comThe following project requirements must be met in order to qualify for inclusion on the shuttle program:
- The project must be targeted on the currently-supported SkyWater Open PDK for the 130nm process.
- The project must be posted on a git-compatible repo and be publicly accessible.
- The top-level of the project must include a LICENSE file for an approved open-source license agreement. Third-party source code must be identified and source code must contain proper headers. See details here.
- The repo must include project documentation and adhere to Google's inclusive language guidelines. See details here.
- The project must be fully open. The project must contain a GDSII layout, which must be reproducible from source contained in the project.
- Projects must use a common test harness and padframe based on the Caravel repo. New projects should start by duplicating or forking the Caravel User Project repo and implementing their project using the user_project_wrapper. The Caravel repo is configured as a submodule in the project under the ‘caravel’ directory. Note -- you do not need to initialize nor clone the Caravel sub-directory to complete or submit your project. See the project README for further instructions. The projects must be implemented within the user space of the layout and meet all requirements for the Caravel.
- Projects must successfully pass the Open MPW precheck tool, including LVS and DRC clean using the referenced versions of OpenLane flow. Projects should implement and pass a simulation testbench for their design integrated into Caravel. The Caravel User Project provides an example of how to implement this.
