Inaugural Address by Prof. Subhash C. Arya, HoD (ECE)
Date: 12.02.2025
Dear Esteemed Colleagues and Research Scholars,
It is with great enthusiasm that
I inaugurate our "Wednesday Talk" series, a platform dedicated to
fostering intellectual exchange within the Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering. This initiative is designed to cultivate a
collaborative environment where ideas can flourish without the constraints of
formal evaluation.
Before we delve into today's
session, I would like to acknowledge two significant occasions that resonate
with our community.
On February 11th, World
celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, as declared by
UNESCO. This year marked the 10th anniversary of this observance, emphasizing
the theme of "Unpacking STEM careers: Her Voice in Science." I extend
my heartfelt congratulations to all our women scientists, engineers, and
research scholars for their invaluable contributions. I also commend our male
colleagues who actively support and encourage this movement towards gender
equality in science.
Today, February 12th, we
commemorate the 648th birth anniversary of Saint Ravidas, a revered poet and
social reformer. His teachings on equality and human rights have left an
indelible mark on society. On this auspicious day, I extend my best wishes to
all of you.
It is indeed fitting that we
commence our "Wednesday Talk" series on such a significant day. This
initiative aims to enhance our research culture by providing a regular forum
for discussion, deepening our collective understanding, and appreciating the
diverse research endeavors within our department.
These sessions will serve as a
conduit for free-flowing conversations, enabling us to explore various research
domains and identify emerging areas of interest. By showcasing the work of our
scholars, we not only celebrate individual achievements but also inspire others
to pursue excellence in their research pursuits.
Through brainstorming
sessions, we can collectively address research challenges, leveraging the
diverse expertise present within our Department. This platform also offers an
opportunity for scholars to hone their event management and collaborative
skills, essential competencies in the academic and professional arenas.
I encourage each participant
to engage actively, share insights, and provide constructive feedback during
these sessions. Let us embrace this initiative as a means to strengthen our
research community, foster innovation, and contribute meaningfully to the
advancement of knowledge in our field.
Together, let us make the
"Wednesday Talk" series a cornerstone of our department's academic
culture, propelling us toward greater achievements.
Thank you.
